Frank presents the cheque to Carol
TUSK or Transport for Ugandan Sick Children is a charity organised and run by a local nurse Carol Mitchell and Frank Smith our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler was delighted to present a cheque to the value of £1000 to Carol. The money has been raised by the brethren of the Secret Monitor in East Lancashire and ‘match funded’ by Grand Conclave in London.
Carol has set up the charity which provides transport for sick and poorly Ugandan villagers to get them to the hospitals that are usually located in the cities of this African Nation. Carol is also a qualified nurse and gives up much of her time looking after the patients on their journey to the hospital out there. Carol has set up the charity along with her husband. This is the second vehicle provided by TUSC who also pay some of the wages of the man on the ground over there who is called Yakob. All the other work is done on a voluntary basis to ensure that those Ugandans who require a visit to the hospital can get safely from their village into the city, to receive the treatment they need.
The vehicle is a specially adapted Toyota Land Cruiser – we all know how expensive it can be keeping a car on the road! So the money raised is vital towards maintaining and fueling the vehicle.
