Ken Buckley is the newest member of Forest of Pendle conclave No 219 following his induction at the March meeting.
With the head of the order, Frank Smith, his Deputy Chris Givvons as well as a galaxy of acting officers out with him on a team visit, Ken was very well received.
Sadly the Provincial Director of Ceremonies had been held up courtesy of a double puncture! So Chris Givvons turned back the clock and assume his former role as DC leading the procession in. Frank and his officers were made most welcome and sat back to enjoy the meeting.
The conclave was opened by Paul Joynson, Supreme Ruler, following which Les Bond took the chair to conduct the ceremony. Les has been friends with Ken for many years and they are both members of Prosperity Craft Lodge along with Gordon Fletcher and Stephen Jackson who were also present. Stephen took a big part in the ceremony as the conclave Director of Ceremonies.
Ken was admitted in due form and inducted during a perfect ceremony delivered by Les Bond with Sincerity. Stephen Jackson delivered a well-polished presentation of the weapons.
Paul’s year in the chair is nearly at an end and another important part of the conclave business was to elect and proclaim his successor who is none other than Nigel Dunlop. Paul and Nigel have swapped places in a couple of the East Lancashire conclaves which has provided help and support to the conclave as other members are working their way around the various offices leading to the chair.
Once the conclave was closed it was down to the bar and dining area where the harmony, friendship, good food as well as a raffle for the charities ensued.
