The festive board

Rochdale Masonic Hall was the venue for the 2016 meeting of Provincial Grand Conclave of East Lancashire. Our PGSR, Frank Hood Smith welcomed over 60 brethren from  our province along with representatives of another seven provinces scattered far and wide including Scotland. The Provincial Director of Ceremonies, Tom Corbally GStwd marshaled the procession into the conclave who were greeted with acclamation. Frank welcomed one and all and he in turn along with the other distinguished brethren were all greeted with the appropriate salutations.

All of the conclaves from around East Lancashire were well represented and there were also many other brethren present who are also senior officers in other orders. Frank thanked all his team of outgoing officers for their support during the year, there have been three team visits and also ‘cross border’ trips to West Yorkshire.

The new team were invested with a total of 25 investments or appointments and three brethren receiving a promotion. All were greeted with a warm round of applause before being taken back to their seats, via Peter Connolly, the Provincial Registrar who presented each one with his certificate.

Frank thanked all the brethren for their continued support. While some Conclaves are doing well with a queue of brethren to be inducted, others need support as numbers are sometime low and he stressed the importance of visiting conclaves. He looked forward to a busy year ahead and welcomed in the new team.

The officers then formed a magnificent procession and left the conclave to warm applause.

The brethren then retired to the banquette that was to follow, Rochdale’s superb catering team served up a mouth watering four course meal. During the meal Frank took wine with many of his guests and the brethren assembled.

The day was enjoyed by all and The Province of East Lancashire looks forward to having a really good and enjoyable year of Secret Monitor Freemasonry.
