The Scarlet Cord 2020 provincial meeting took place at Shaw masonic hall and the brethren found it a bit of a squeeze!
Invitations had been well responded to and 54 companions had to fit in to the lodge room. It was achieved in the end without any fuss and was very cosy indeed. Provincial Grand Summus Howard Nuttall greeted and thanked everyone for attending the meeting which broke all previous attendance records, infact 68% of the membership in East Lancashire had come along to share the day with their leader.
Howard introduced his guests who had traveled from afar, with a large number attending from the neighbouring West Lancashire province. The usual provincial business was dispatched following which Howard appointed Ian Ronson as his Deputy and Trevor Jewitt as his Assistant.
It was then time to appoint and invest his officers for the year thanking them all for their support and assistance.
Following a most enjoyable meeting the brethren retired to the dining area for the dinner. Braised steak was on the menu which was enjoyed by the companions, along with good company, good fun and harmony and of course refreshment. Many toasts were taken with both the visitors and individuals. Ian Ronson proposed a toast to Howard’s health to which he responded with thanks and the companions responded with rapturous applause.
