Our Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, Frank Hood Smith recently had great pleasure to present a donation of £1000 to the Derian House Children’s Hospice at Chorley. East Lancashire Secret Monitors have raised £500 and under the ‘match funding’ scheme, Grand Conclave topped up the donation from the OSM Benevolent Fund having agreed that this is an excellent charity to support.
Frank made the presentation to Susie Popitt, the head of fundraising for the charity at a recent visit to the Hospice at Astley Village in Chorley. At the hospice they provide respite or palliative support to families across Lancashire who has children with life shortening conditions. They aim to provide a high standard of specialist care for the child but also a reassuring framework of emotional support for the whole family. The hospice opened in 1993 and with a specialist team cares for children and has a facility to care for young adults up to the age of 23.
In order to continue, the hospice requires £3 million plus per year so Susie expressed her thanks to Frank for the support The Order has provided with this donation.
